Lily lives at home where she has an incredibly loving family and dedicated care team supporting her. Lily’s sister, who still lives at home, has a close relationship with her big sis. Lily’s house is fully adapted with glorious views, a fantastic garden and decked area for Lily to access. Lily has Dyskinetic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, she is a wheelchair user, requires support to meet all her needs, such as personal care, moving and handling and feeding. Lily eats orally, with a blended diet. She communicates by eye pointing. For example, Lily will eye point to right hand for yes, and to the left hand for no. Lily loves ‘girly’ things; having her nails painted, looking through her FB page whilst listening to music or looking at different girly related things on her iPad. She has a wonderful sense of humour; pretend to fall over and you will have her laughing! One of her favourite comedies is ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’. There will be times, especially when Lily is tired after being at the Day Care Centre, that she may just want to be left alone to listen to music and watch slides on her iPad. Once you get to know Lily you will know when to give her some space.Overview of role: Shift begins at 08.00 am, once you have said a sunny good morning, you will hoist Lily, over to her changing mat, give her a flannel wash and dress her before moving through to the kitchen for breakfast (full ceiling hoists are in place). Once home Lily may choose to go into her standing frame or have something to eat first. In her standing frame (one hour) she really loves her support worker to paint her nails or watch TV with, or just chill by herself. During this time there are a few light household duties, related to Lily, to do. Once tea is finished and Lily is ready to be taken through to her bedroom, it’s relaxed, getting ready for bed, then once settled Lily’s mum will come through, around 8.15/8.30 pm. Tuesdays and Fridays, 08.00am to 10.30am, then 4.00pm to 8.30pm. There are always additional daytime shifts: weekdays, weekends, ( 09.30 am to 8.30 pm ) (£17.50 gross) or sleeping nights (£80.00 gross ) available/ £30 call out rate when required.Who this job would suit: You’ll start this role, with enthusiasm, energy, warmth, good humour, and a real can-do attitude. An experienced * female support worker who is looking to join a well-supported team but who can add their own bubbly personality, and skills. What’s great about this job: Lily, and her family show kindness and positivity by the bucket load. Training in all areas of Lily’s care will be provided and excellent on-going supervision. Once a year Lily is taken on holiday with two Support Workers to Centre Parcs. Having met Lily, albeit it briefly, you will feel incredibly lucky to be part of ‘team Lily.’Who is recruiting for this role? Our client is using our Advertising Package.
