How we work out pay

We made these pages to show what jobs pay now, with the jobs next to the number. We use pay offered in job listings. That's not what people take home. Here is where each figure comes from.

By Jobs Bear. Edited by [NAME, ROLE]. Page updated 5 Nov 2026.

Where the numbers come from

  1. Job listings. The pay written in each job listing, read from its text by our system.
  2. Up to 90 days. Jobs first seen in the last 90 days at most. Each page states its own window.
  3. Like with like. Base pay in pounds, by the hour, month or year.
  4. One vote per employer. Each employer counts once, however many jobs it lists. Average here means the middle figure, with each employer counted once, so one big recruiter can't move it.

Example: HGV driver in Leeds

  • Jobs within 20 km of Leeds75
  • Employers, one vote each29
  • Middle figure: average pay£17.53 an hour
  • × 37.5 hours × 52 weeks, to the nearest £100£34,200 a year
  • Half of jobs pay between£16.54 and £19.89

Based on 75 jobs from 29 employers in the last day. Updated 5 Nov 2026.

When a page shows a figure

  • At least 20 jobs, from at least 5 employers.
  • No one employer has more than half of the jobs.
  • Never below the legal minimum: the National Living Wage is £12.71 an hour for ages 21 and over, from 1 April 2026.

With fewer jobs there is no page yet.

What we leave out

  • "Up to" pay alone
  • Commission only
  • Day or week rates
  • Piece rates
  • Pro rata pay
  • Fully remote jobs
  • Trainee jobs
  • Apprenticeships
  • Self-employed work
  • Other currencies

Why we can differ from other sites

  • Job listings, not payslips. We use pay offered in job listings. That's not what people take home: overtime, bonuses and rises can differ.
  • A short window. 90 days at most follows today's jobs. Figures pooled over years move slower.
  • One vote per employer. A busy agency counts once, not once per listing.

Updates and privacy

Figures update every night, and each page shows the date. What you type in the pay check stays on your screen: we don't save it, and it never goes in a link.
